Job Summary

This position is for an Undergraduate Technical Intern position assisting in development of code in an embedded environment. Tasks will include developing, integrating, testing and documenting functionality. Additionally, there will be opportunities to work with engineering to investigate and isolate potential issues and then developing solutions to those issues. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL working with a team with software, hardware, & systems engineers.

The candidate must be adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, collaborate with teammates in order to make the best decisions, enjoy learning new technologies, be willing to participate in documentation activities, and contribute to a positive work environment.

Job Responsibilities

* Registered college student pursuing a technical undergraduate BS degree. Student must be enrolled in an accredited 2 or 4 year institution.

* Student must have basic skills and qualities that should align with skills and qualities comparable to peers in the same organization.

* Provides complimentary technical support to a department and performs various duties dependent upon the department in which the position resides.

* This position orients the student to the technical environment. It may include assignments in the electrical, computer, aerospace, industrial or mechanical engineering or computer science disciplines.

Basic Qualifications

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelors or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Ideal candidates will possess technical expertise in software engineering domain areas and other skills including:

* Experience in C & C++

* Working knowledge of hardware/software interfaces

* Programming in a real-time environment

* Analysis – Understands elementary problem-solving techniques.

* Cooperation – Understands the value of cooperating with coworkers.

* Delegating and Directing – Follows directions as provided by leadership.

* Detail Orientation – Understands the importance of monitoring the status and quality of one’s own work.

* Judgment – Appreciates the importance of basing decisions on factual information and sound logic.

* Listening – Understands fundamental communication styles and techniques.

* Time Management – Maintains an organized daily calendar.

In addition, the candidate would also have background in networking including understanding and/or experience with the following:

* Basic understanding of IP networking

* Previous experience with network analysis tools such as tcpdump, wireshark.

* Experience in various scripting languages and script programming (ie Python, Javascript).

* Experience with managing many tasks and communicating with other interns and engineers.

The candidate is required to have excellent communications skills to communicate technical issues and status in both written and oral form.
