Job Summary

Collins Aerospace is the premier global supplier for VHF and HF communication equipment for commercial aircraft. Hiring talented and motivated software engineers is key to our company’s success. We are currently searching for a Software Engineer with Digital Signal Processing experience to join our CNS Communications department. The candidate will work with customers, engineering management, program management and developers for hardware, software and firmware, production, and subcontractors to provide solutions and support for both domestic and international customers. We are seeking individuals with the technical and leadership skills to help enhance communication products for both new and established products and systems.

Job Responsibilities

This Software Engineer will be a part of an integrated cross-functional team and be responsible for the following:
* Modeling wireless communication links
* Creating and reviewing requirement specifications
* Designing, developing, and testing real-time embedded software
* Integrating and testing prior to product customer delivery

This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of advanced avionics communication technology, and to apply that knowledge in a team environment.

Basic Qualifications

Required
* This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required.
* Experience in real-time embedded software engineering
* Experience in design, implementation and testing of digital communications links:
* Waveform transmission
* Receiver performance characterization with noise
* Receiver carrier and symbol timing synchronization
* Receiver demodulation
* Forward error correction
* Experience in C, C++, and Matlab
* The ability to perform in all phases of the software engineering life cycle including requirements analysis, software design, code development, integration and test, and documentation
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strong teamwork skills

Desired
* Experience with Ethernet and USB peripherals
* Familiarity with code repositories such as GIT and Subversion (SVN)
* Experience developing software in a regulated industry, for example, experience with DO-178B/C, MIL-STD-498, etc.
* Desire to mentor and train others as needed
* A genuine desire to learn and innovate
