Primary Purpose:
Under direct supervision, develop and test software in various aspects of IP/telecommunication systems on multiple hardware platforms utilizing Linux and/or Unix-based operating systems
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work from existing design specifications to implement, test and document software for communication systems and/or subsystems
Operate effectively and comfortably in a team environment
Work closely with team members and manager to gain technical experience
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Travel to other LGS Locations or Customer Sites as necessary
Understand and adhere to all LGS Ethical and Compliance policies
Proactively ensure a safe work environment and adhere to LGS EH&S policies and procedures
Perform other duties as required
Consistent and reliable attendance required
If required, obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level required to perform the duties of the position
Work is typically performed in an office environment which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Experience debugging system-level issues with various lab equipment
Knowledge of Microsoft software applications and other software applications as required
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline and 0-2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
Major GPA of 3.0 or higher
Familiar with development in either Windows, Linux and/or Unix-based operating systems
Software development skills in current languages such as: C, C++, JAVA, Python, PHP, JavaScript, ARM, MIPS, x86 or comparable languages.
Use of development tools (e.g. editors and compliers)
Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies
Preferred Qualifications: N8:N9Familiarity with software security concepts such as intrusion detection, cryptography, authentication, firewalls, secure coding practices
Understanding of network hardware, systems and software applications
Knowledge of Internet routing techniques protocols and tools
Familiar with software engineering process concepts from requirements reviews, code inspection to component delivery and sign-off
