Role Overview

Researches, designs, develops, tests, debugs, deploys, and maintains application software. Applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the construction, analysis, or management of software. Involved in planning of system and assists with system design. Analyzes complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements. Performs all aspects of programming assignments. Responsible for compliance with software standards and conventions. Designs and builds changes, extensions and enhancements to existing application programs and reports. Supports data migration, data conversion, data loading, and performance improvement. Designs details of automated systems. Designs and develops integrations between applications using application programming interfaces. Prepares operating instructions and compiles documentation of program development. Prepares test plans and conducts functional and performance testing. Provides patches and upgrades to existing systems. Responsible for working with users to support business applications, and investigating operational problems/system requirements. Solves user inquiries that arise during day-to-day operation and documents system changes. Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Project and/or technical lead for complex projects with broad degree of flexibility for approach.
* Apply results of metrics research and technical knowledge to determine root causes of problems and develop appropriate solutions.
* Design and develop applications varying from basic through very complex.
* Works on assigned tasks with little or no supervision.
* Has a large degree of freedom to perform assigned tasks within schedule and cost.
* May provide overall team leadership for assigned projects.
* Mentor junior team members of the team.
* Develop/modify programs based on functional specifications, investigate and understand new technologies, assist/conduct unit-tests, integration testing, code review and performance monitoring.
* Assist and develop strategic roadmap from technical perspective where applicable.
* Identifies and implements process improvements.
* Responsible and accountable for adherence to defined processes and project cost and schedule requirements.
* Provide broad exploratory/discovery consulting services to internal customers.
* Assists with the transfer of knowledge of technical skills.
* May begin to interface with internal customers.
* Individual job duties may vary.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residence required.

* Deep programming language knowledge
* Develop, test and integrate new software programs
* Clearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support colleagues
* Provide comprehensive support to internal customers; achieve resolution to outstanding problems or issues
* Facilitate root cause analysis of system issues
* Mentor and train less experienced teammates in software development
* Be an advocate of all department processes with respect to software and ensure compliance
* Development of technical specifications, plans, and other key documentation
* Analyze user requirements and convert requirements to design documents
* Knowledge of the software development life-cycle
* Experience working on a variety of software development projects
* Must have the ability to multi-task and work competing priorities
