Our Developer Enablement Tribe are looking for Senior Systems Engineers with experience running and monitoring high scale systems in the cloud. We consider DevOps to be a cultural change where developers are enabled to own what they run, embracing the "you build it; you run it" philosophy.

Skyscanner can offer you large scale, complex problems where you can reach 80 million monthly unique users whilst enjoying a high level of autonomy and influence.

What you’ll do:

* Empower product developers to run their high-scale services on our platforms in an automated, self-service fashion.

* Collaborate with other squads and share your deep understanding of your services and domain

* Work on complex technical challenges such as:

* Multi-tenant compute platforms such as Kubernetes (where we run one of the largest installations in AWS) and ECS.

* Improving the performance of our existing technology stack end-to-end in order to provide a better, quicker experience to our travellers.

* Managing and advising the business on the scale and cost of our AWS estate with automated solutions, as well as enabling squads with templated best-practice infrastructure options.

* Monitoring the status and traveller experience on the website, handling incidents and advocating improvements across the business and technical stacks on behalf of the traveller.

* Empowering product squads with tracing and monitoring of requests as they travel through our platforms.

What we are looking for:

* Experience designing, implementing and operating cloud-native systems and services at scale, including open-source and commercial third-party solutions.

* Experience and knowledge of administrating at least one cloud provider, preferably AWS

* Proficient in scripting languages and experience working with production-ready Go, Java or Python

* An up to date knowledge of technology including the latest DevOps techniques

* A good understanding of Docker & multi-tenant compute environments (Kubernetes / ECS)

* Monitoring and Alert configuration management

* System design and decision-making based on data

* Excellent troubleshooting and diagnosis skills across technologies

* Good communications and teamworking skills

* Passion for learning new technologies and adapting to a changing technological ecosystem
