Senior Process Engineer Schlosser

Job Description

PURPOSE:

This position reports to the Process Engineering Manager. This position is focused on improvement of one or more manufacturing process steps. The focus of the position is to improve the process: capability, throughput, data collection and/or reduce defects.
The incumbent provides expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of solutions to current issues. They assure compliance with approved methods and quality standards while exercising discretion and independent judgment in the evaluation of possible courses of action and acting or making decisions after all various possibilities have been considered.

Based on their independent judgment and within the scope of their engineering expertise, incumbent is vested with the authority to stop the manufacturing process.

Effective decisions will typically result in successful technical and financial solutions.

May supervise and/or guide other engineers and/or technicians on an ongoing basis or as needed for the term of assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Reviewing customer specifications, in house process documentation to determine requirements
* Preparing plan to address shortcomings or create new improved processes
* Present planned approach to address issues
* Prepare instructions (oral and written) and communicate plan elements to those necessary
* Execute plan and provide updates on progress and issues encountered and those both solved and yet to solve
* Work with manufacturing and customers as required to be successful
* Work in compliance with Export Control requirements
* Work in compliance with safety standards
* Establish 4 blockers and milestones for specific projects
* Participate in correcting engineering related problems
* Be responsible for annual cost savings projects totaling 3x the employee’s salary.
* Ability to work individually and/or contribute to team initiatives
* Ability to calculate financial benefit of projects
* Effectively coordinate and communicate with manufacturing to complete projects.
* Be able to prioritize projects based on impact to production.
* Be willing to investigate new solutions
* Be self-starting, take input and direction
* Be able to handle long-term, multi-year projects with short-term, high pressure projects
* Time management of multiple projects

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Requires BS degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering preferred. Mechanical and materials
* Knowledge and demonstrated ability in engineering principles and disciplines; employed manufacturing processes; statistical analysis (data correlation); technical report writing, presentation preparation and delivery.
* Ability to define, plan, and complete major projects, prepare status updates and presentations to management
* Experience using CAD preferred
* Experience using Statistical programs, Minitab or Statistica are preferred
* Experience with Microsoft project preferred
* Requires knowledge of investment casting process
* Requires adequate Six Sigma knowledge or be willing to acquire training.
