Position Description:

Zygo Corporation is a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced optical metrology systems and ultra-precise optical components and assemblies. Zygo’s metrology products measure absolute position, displacement, surface shape, surface texture and film thickness.

Applications for our metrology products are diverse and include semiconductor manufacturing, precision machining and optical manufacturing. Our optics business leverages Zygo’s expertise in optical design, assembly and high-volume manufacturing of precision optical components and systems for aerospace, defense, medical and industrial applications.

Zygo seeks a highly-talented team player with strong technical and communication skills to introduce new products into the operation and help drive operational success. This engineer’s primary job responsibilities will be the development, fabrication and deployment of custom assembly fixtures, processes and metrology systems. A qualified person must have demonstrated the ability to define, plan and execute projects, pay strict attention to detail, have hands-on manufacturing experience and possess strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

•Design, fabricate and deploy assembly tooling and metrology systems.

•Plan and develop manufacturing work cells and equipment for efficient production.

•Track build data and analyze to define trends and operating problems and facilitate problem solving.

•Develop and manage product assembly and test work instructions, new manufacturing processes, and detailed method sheets.

•Develop and deliver training programs for technicians and assemblers in the use of tooling, test equipment and processes.

•Provide technical and problem-solving assistance to customers, suppliers and Zygo manufacturing teams.

•Investigate root causes of product failure and develop permanent corrective actions.

•Ensure manufacturing operation up-time, by resolving product assembly issues and coordinating equipment maintenance and repair services.
