Jetstar is currently undergoing some exciting transformational changes and as a result we are expanding our data analytics function. We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Analyst (Data Analytics) to become a core part of the Data Analytics function within Jetstar.

The main purpose of this role will be to oversee the commercialisation of analysis on our rich data set to drive powerful insights and create a competitive advantage in the markets in which Jetstar operates.

Reporting to the Data Analytics Manager, key responsibilities of this role will include:

• Playing a key role in supporting the culture of data-driven, customer centric decision making across Jetstar
• Analysing, identifying and describing relationships and patterns in historical and current customer & operational data
• Pro-actively identifying potential commercially valuable opportunities and defining related hypotheses
• Propose actionable insights/recommendations
• Discuss data meaning and complexity with peers throughout the business
• Establish and own processes and systems
• Actively engage with stakeholders in the organisation to understand their data requirements
• Create executive management reports and dashboards
• Identify and develop the capability to track detailed competitor data and leverage existing internal data to inform smart, customer-led, decision making

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills, qualifications and experience:

• Tertiary degree (or equivalent experience) in a highly analytical discipline (e.g. statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering)
• Strong data analytics background
• Demonstrated ability to translate and communicate actionable insights based on complex analysis
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of core commercial principles and practices
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to clearly explain key insights
• Proven ability to consistently deliver zero-defect analysis
• Extensive experience using data mining, relational databases and predictive modeling tools – e.g. SQL, SAS, SPSS, R, Python, Tableau, Qlikview, PowerBI, etc.
• Experience working with Big Data
• Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to think creatively and ‘outside of the box’
• Knowledge and understanding of the tools and techniques that form an effective platform for a highly functional data analytics capability
