Job Summary

- Ensure delivery of products and service to customers according to airline specifications and expectations

- Ensure the completion of tasks in an effective and efficient way according to agreed objectives, procedures & specifications

- Develop departmental competence by training staff and maintaining a continuously improving ethic with people, process and system related procedures to maintain optimum team performance

- Participate with customer menu development and execution

- Ensure that adherence to in-house policies and procedures are sustained and consistently

- Foster CI initiatives and provide a climate for change

- Ensure Food safety and Health & Safety compliance is adhered & understood

- Maintain and develop material cost control standards through optimised operational flows

- Maintain Gate Opex (in house operational excellence program) element standards

- Supporting and participating in customer visits

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Staff planning and control of man-hours used for the Production

* Planning and control of the man-hours according to the budget figures (including sick leaves, vacation, temporary employment, etc.). Provide explanation for deviations and if necessary develop corrective measures (such as improve processes, stream line production flow, provide additional training)

Daily analysis of operational key figures (such as productivity, short term absenteeism, overtime etc.)

* Daily analysis and evaluation of the "operational reports" (OPRS)

Planning & ensuring timely and correct delivery to all internal departments

* Regular Production planning, rostering and scheduling. Organisation of flight schedule changes

Coordination of ADHOC flights, VIP flights other additional activities

* By obtaining all necessary information for the operational planning

Ensure adherence to hygiene, health, labour law and security procedures and ordinances required by company and government

Coordination and initiation of training required for all team members to be aware of food safety, health and safety procedures and security (DFT) policies and procedures

*

Participation in unit inspections by external and internal auditors

*

Responsibility for implementation of actions plan to remedy short comings highlighted during the audits, defined preventive measures and implement control procedures

Continuous optimization of operational processes

*

All activities which contribute to a positive operational improvement such as e.g. participation in projects, working groups etc. to achieve our goals; innovation of new technologies, etc

Drive Culinary Excellence

*

Maintain training and development of staff with direct involvement on shop floor

Staff management / human resources development

*

Lead employees to achieve agreed objectives; compliance with work instructions

*

Conduct appraisal Interviews

*

Assistance in recruitment

*

Implementation and documentation of the annual appraisal process (PAP)

*

Responsible for the periodic revision of job descriptions

*

Training and education of employees to enable them to exercise their function and responsibility related to their job nature and companies requirements

*

Participation in human resources development (e.g. applying for training, identifying potentials etc.)

*

Responsibility for the correct induction of new employees

Documentation and Communication of irregularities like accidents, delays, complaints etc

* Investigating any irregularities in the operational process and making recommendation of the required corrective measures

Management of inventory

* Compliance with the "first in first out - principle"

*

Check that the specified inventory dates & procedures are complied with; assure completeness and accuracy of inventory reporting

Maintenance and preservation of work equipment and machinery

* Compliance with the regular maintenance dates

*

Control of cleaning and maintenance equipment and machines

Creation of various statistics, reports

*

Administrative management of the Department

Qualifications:

Education:

* Degree educated and/or demonstrable continued professional development at a senior level is preferred

* Professional qualification in operations/logistics preferred

Work Experience:

* Experience of working in a fast-paced environment

* Experience of managing large teams within a Food Hygiene/Health and Safety/high security environment essential

* Previous management experience with demonstrable leadership and senior management activities and responsibilities

* Culinary background not critical but beneficial

Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)

* Intermediate to advanced IT skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

* Excellent communication and presentation skills. Concise and professional in delivery

* Proven leadership ability

* An understanding of CCP’s and SOP’s (HACCP)

* Knowledge of accident prevention and safety regulations
