Regional Express (Rex) is Australia’s largest independent regional airline operating a fleet of more than 50 Saab 340 aircraft on some 1,500 weekly flights to 58 destinations throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia.

Expressions of interest are sought for a suitably qualified and highly motivated person to become part of the Regional Express Human Factors Group based in Sydney as a full-time Safety Investigator.

Reporting
This position reports to the Group Safety Manager and General Manager of the Human Factors Group.

Position Responsibility
•Administer the Safety Management System under the direction of the Group Safety Manager, including following up the progress of investigations with relevant managers.
•Conduct internal investigations and compile reports on safety events as delegated by the Group Safety Manager.
•Liaise with regulatory authorities and external parties under the directions from the Group Safety Manager.
•Support the Risk Assessment Register process and the risk assessment of identified hazards.
•Conduct auditing activities as required.
•Complete trend analysis and causation analysis.
•Assist in the preparation of material for regulatory reports.
•Other duties as required.

Essential Selection Criteria
•Experience in conducting and leading investigations, preferably within an aviation environment.
•Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated high level report writing ability.
•Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills.
•Demonstrated knowledge in respect to the furnishing of evidence to professional bodies such as the ATSB and CASA.
•Demonstrated experience in conducting interviews and obtaining statements.
•Proven ability to develop and deliver presentations for the effective dissemination of information.
•Qualifications preferably held as a lead auditor/aviation safety investigator.
•Highly driven with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
