Reliability Engineer III, Irvine, CA

SUMMARY
As an integral part of Customer Support Organization the Reliability Engineer is responsible for all reliability and maintainability efforts and activities across Parker’s Aerospace Divisions necessary to meet program requirements. The Reliability Engineer provides technical applied support to engineering programs, processes and product support. Conducts analytical evaluation of components and/or systems performance in the Aftermarket.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collaborating in a team environment performs routine analytical evaluation of assigned products (e.g. new mechanical or electromechanical components, subsystems, and systems) by applying as directed basic engineering principles.
2. Completes defined technical tasks. Develops reports and documentation in response to technical information requests.
3. Conducts routine analysis to evaluate product designs, methods, materials or processes and completes required technical documentation by applying engineering principles and company standards, and generating reports, procedures, or change proposals as required.
4. Provides technical information for review with product engineering and design review teams. Consistently applies established engineering defined practices, standards, and documentation methods. Contributes to supporting documentation for procedures and technical reports.
5. Adopts lean product development and standard engineering development and techniques.
6. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and/or participating in professional associations.
7. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities. Contributes and supports other teams or individuals as needed.
8. Responsible for all reliability and maintainability efforts and activities for Commercial and Military programs across multiple Divisions/facilities.
9. Perform reliability performance analyses including warranty guarantees; Mean Time Before Unscheduled Removal (MTBUR); Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF); Failure Modes, Effects and Critical Analysis (FMECA); No Fault Found (NFF) and overall performance trends.
10. Evaluate and summarize large quantities of data to support technical discussions.
11. Support and present Reliability Performance Reports and Findings at Customers’ Program Reviews.
12. Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management and Business Development to support Product Improvement and Retrofit (PI&R) initiatives with technically sounded Reliability analyses.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor degree (BS) (or Professional Engineer (PE) certificate) in an engineering or science technical discipline.
· Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 4-6 years of related experience.
· Has thorough knowledge of product area and domain and develops breadth of knowledge of industry practices, techniques, regulations, and policies.
· Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g. computer-aided design or modeling systems); ability to use standard software packages. May require capability using specialized software applications or languages.
· Ability to apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
· Ability to work with general objectives regarding projects and team goals; applies judgment in selecting procedures and techniques that should be applied. Works collaboratively in a team environment.
· Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision. Responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams.
