In your role, you will:

- Deliver a high standard of patient care as a Nurse Practitioner in an occupational Health setting using advanced autonomous clinical skills and a broad and in-depth theoretical knowledge base.
- Support other nurses in developing and maintaining clinical skills.
- Provide health services that comply with legal requirements and are consistent with the Corporate Health, Safety and Environment Policy.
- Manage the Health Centre by ordering supplies, maintaining equipment and providing first aid services.
- Organize medical surveillance programs as required by regulations.
- Promote employee wellness through health teaching and initiatives that target pertinent risk factors.
- Obtain and review employee medical information, issuing restrictions as required.
- Support the Early and Safe Return to Work process.
- Identify signs and symptoms that may be caused by occupational exposures and recommend control measures (e.g. personal protective equipment, physical restrictions). To support this analysis, independent medical evaluations or functional abilities evaluations may be arranged.
- Involve making decisions directly impacting employee health and productivity.
- Maintain Health Centre files including medical information that is subject to confidentiality requirements.
- Include communication with management (documented restrictions, work accommodation information) and building partnerships essential to a successful return to work program.
- Include external communication with medical professionals and WSIB Adjudicators and Case Managers

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate,

- Successful completion of the College of Nurses of Ontario Nurse Practitioner examinations
- You have a current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- You have a strong execution ability, with an energetic ‘can-do’ team player attitude, and an ability to drive and manage change
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- You have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience delivering occupational health services, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with clinical health risk assessment and fitness for work determination.
- You have a standard computer skills, must be able to work with databases.
- You have an excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
