POSITION REPORTS TO: Quality Director

POSITION PURPOSE (What this position is responsible for accomplishing)

Reporting to the Quality Director, this position is responsible for performing quality engineering activities in support of the contracts, engineering, manufacturing, and procurement departments as well as overall support to the quality organization. The Senior Quality Engineer also provides guidance and technical support to inspectors and operators in conducting related activities and tasks.

This position is focused on supporting a business unit structure in all areas of Quality related to the products being produced. The Quality Engineer will work at the development / introductory phase reviewing contracts, statements of work, and researching contract requirements. These requirements will be documented and flowed throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES FOR THIS JOB

The Senior Quality Engineer supports the following key tasks and responsibilities.

* Review Requests for Quote and Contracts for ability to comply, cost estimation and key Quality requirements.
* Respond on Quotes and support negotiations with customers as needed.
* Maintain database of contractual flowdown and notify internal customers of requirements.
* Support procedure development, integration, and training
* Perform internal auditing to contractual requirements and system procedures
* Increase internal and external customer satisfaction
* Other responsibilities/tasks as may be assigned by management
* Work collaboratively with other Business unit functions to correct any product issues

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS(What does the employee need to do to be successful?)

The Senior Quality Engineer supports projects and assignments within the requirements of Licensor, Customer, Regulatory and Quality Management Systems constraints. They shall conduct business in a professional manner while maintaining effective relationships with all stakeholders. Additionally, the performance of Senior Quality Engineers shall be judged upon the following criteria:

* Perform contract review, establish contract requirement flowdown and planning internally and to suppliers, monitor for contract compliance
* Address customer issues/complaints, support root cause and establish corrective action
* Support quality planning function
* Provides technical support to inspectors and operators
* Interface with customers and assist with negotiation as indicated

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma required. BS Degree (Engineering) or equivalent related experience desired. Quality Engineering professional certification(s) or thorough practical experience, knowledge of the applications and tools.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPEREINCE:

The Senior Quality Engineer will possess a thorough knowledge of the aerospace/DOD industry and regulatory environment. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to organize activities and execute tasks including interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain relationships at all levels to solve problems and facilitate results.

* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aerospace/aviation industry
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in quality engineering
* Strong knowledge of inspection techniques
* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000, AS9100, FAA regulations and industry standards
* Supplier quality audit experience
* Experience interacting with suppliers to solve quality issues
* Major OEM experience.
* Advanced problem solving; analyzing, investigating and following up using six sigma tools
* Process improvement strategies (being process oriented)
* Ability to multitask and stay focused on tasks to completion, diligence and attention to detail
* Easily identify and resolve obstacles to keep tasks on track
* Apply experience to determine the best approaches and courses of action
* Experience with electro mechanical and electronic experience
* Knowledge of business systems including ERP, Microsoft Office, etc.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE;

* IPC 610 Certification a plus
* ASQ/CQE certification desired
* GD&T experience a plus
* SPC experience a plus
* Ability to develop and build a strong team environment, establishing effective relationships with the wide spectrum of team members and stakeholders
* Being innovative in tactical matters, breaking down barriers, proposing alternate solutions
* Ability to communicate and negotiate, using diplomacy, and managing conflict
* Attention to detail and follow through

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

* FINGER DEXTERITY: Must be able to efficiently use keyboard.
* TALKING: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must be capable and willing to speak in front of groups of individuals for training/instructional purposes.
* HEARING: Excellent listening, comprehension and interpersonal communication skills
* VISUAL ABILITIES: Must be able to read minimum of 8 point font and be able to identify colors
* PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Able to lift maximum of 20 lbs

WORKING CONDITIONS (Any hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions?)

Office environment, shop floor visits, air travel. Position requires some irregular working hours, some evenings, and occasional weekend work. May also require some travel.
