POSITION: Quality Assurance Specialist

REPORTS TO: Manager, Maintenance Quality Assurance

FUNCTION:

An analytical mind, strict attention to detail and excellent communication skills are just a few of the key traits candidates must possess to be a successful Quality Assurance Specialist. Your day to day will involve conducting audits to ensure compliance and effectivity of the Porter Quality Assurance program while seeking opportunities to improve processes and training modules. Therefore, having a love for research, information gathering and being proactive will certainly help you in this effort. Once an opportunity for improvement is identified, you will work collaboratively and objectively with business managers to implement action plans in a time efficient manner. Within 6 months the successful candidate will be trained to conduct audits to an ICAO standard.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Conduct internal audits encompassing all functions and elements necessary to confirm that the Air Operator is in compliance with regulations and approved manuals under the Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) and Air Operator Certificates (AOC)

* Conduct external vendor audits associated with Maintenance Arrangements, Manufacturers and Overhaul/Repair Facilities, etc.

* Assist in maintaining detailed audit checklists for all functions and elements under the approved manuals

* Conduct activities associated with audit preparation and planning, audit performance, audit reporting, follow-up and closure

* Schedule training events and assist in the maintenance of training records for Technical Operations.

* Maintain ACA and AME stamps and authorization cards

* Attend Maintenance Quality Assurance team meetings and Quarterly Audit Schedule meetings

* Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

* Other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Experience in the aviation industry and/or experience as an Auditor an asset

* Working knowledge of Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regulations

* Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in quality management principles, quality assurance, and/or auditing techniques an asset

* Effective communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills; keen attention to detail

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

* Ability to use computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, etc.

* Ability to obtain and maintain necessary airport security clearance

* Must maintain a valid passport and be able to travel when required
