ABOUT US:
Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group is one of the largest privately owned and independent aerospace and defence companies that delivers innovation and excellence in engineering and support solutions in the air, on land and at sea. Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group specialises in the conversion and modification of military, civil and business aircraft, alongside defence vehicle engineering and shelter manufacture. Its capabilities include engineering design, manufacture and test and the provision of personnel, training and advice, whilst providing maintenance, integration, manufacture and product support.

As an integral part of the business within the Commercial Directorate, the Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group operates an Estimating function supporting the business with credible, robust cost base estimation to support high quality bids to Customers and continuous assessment of on-going projects and programmes.

We are seeking an Estimator to join our Operations Team with experience of parts manufacture, maintenance and repairs to complement our existing highly experienced Team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment with the ability to assess a specific task and describe this with the resource time required and material cost to create a robust estimate. The Estimating Function is at the Core of driving change and continuous improvement through the Marshall Company assessing the cost impact of new technologies and manufacturing techniques. We can teach how to Estimate. What is vital to the role is an understanding of how something is manufactured or serviced.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Estimating Function provides cost assessments across a whole spectrum of projects, from minor piece part manufacture, Maintenance & Repair Organisations, Urgent Operational Requirements, to complete specialist aircraft modifications and overhauls. In this role you will be required to generate Labour and Material Estimates to satisfy internal and external requests which must be authorised and approved with a comprehensive Basis of Estimate to stand up to scrutiny from Customers. Depending on the nature of the request, you could be asked to generate a detailed Bottoms Up estimate from a technical drawing or aircraft manual, or equally using one of our Parametric Toolsets, a Top Down view from a high-level Customer requirement. Estimates must be realistic, robust, repeatable, honest and fair, but also challenging to drive the competitiveness of the Marshall Business.

Integral to the role is an ability to assess historical data to drive meaningful Cost Estimating Relationships that can be used to generate and validate new estimates and support the winning of new business opportunities. The cost appraisal of new technologies and manufacturing techniques will ensure the business has the right information to make informed decisions on the strategic direction of the Company.
This role is the perfect step towards a career in Estimating with the opportunity to liaise and operate with all levels of the Business. As part of the Estimating Team, you will be given the opportunity to have your skills and experienced realised through a nationally recognised ACostE Accreditation in Cost Estimating. We are committed to helping you build a rewarding and long lasting career as part of the Marshall family.
