A leading aerospace manufacturers in Bristol are recruiting. The Operations Production Leader is responsible for managing the performance of people and processes and facilitating all production and information flows within the defined area of responsibility.

This role requires strong people leadership skills to deliver against performance objectives focused on continuous improvement and people development within the value stream.

KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Accountable for ensuring effectiveness of value stream management system in terms of quality and performance. Resolve people and production issues, using appropriate procedures with escalation as necessary, to optimise continuous flow of materials and information.
  • Manage employee relations on a shift-to-shift basis, working within GKN procedures and ensure effective interface between management team and employees.
  • Ensure that all relevant health and safety policies are adhered to.
  • Support value stream manager in all business aspects.
  • Maintain flexibility to work on shift, in line with business needs.
  • Drive performance and improvements within the value stream, using practical problem-solving techniques as required.
  • Address shortfalls in conduct and performance in a timely and appropriate fashion
  • Act as a key communicator for the shift, cascade information effectively, and provide appropriate feedback on a regular basis.
  • Continuously coach and develop team members to ensure that team targets are achieved enhancing a people - focussed environment.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of skills and flexibility within the shift: identify training needs, provide training, and maintain training plans, records, and skills matrixes.

  • Quality system awareness
  • Strong people leadership
  • Effective communication skills ie written presentations and verbal communications
  • Awareness of local HS&E requirements ie experience of RAMP system
  • Resource management skills
  • Supervisory management skills
  • Experience of working in an operations environment
  • Basic understanding of continuous improvement tools and techniques
  • Comprehensive knowledge of finance/budgeting
  • Experience in implementing continuous improvement would be an advantage
