Product Development Quality Engineer

L3 Aviation Products Division (L3 APD), is a leading provider of commercial and military avionics with unsurpassed performance, quality and customer support. L3 APD manufactures a diverse line of safety- and efficiency-enhancing products that set the standard for next-generation requirements, including configurable voice and data recorders, collision avoidance systems, navigation products, display systems and processors.

We are currently seeking a Product Development Quality Engineer (PDQE) that will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of quality involving various types of software, hardware and systems throughout the product development lifecycle. While the PDQE’s main expertise should be in software quality, responsibility extends to all aspects of development; this person must understand the full product development lifecycle.

* Ensures product development groups, project management, customers, and certification authorities are following defined processes

Supports and initiates improvements within the Engineering development processes

*

Oversees product certifications, to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, DO-178B, DO-254, ARP4754, AS9100 and DO-160 requirements, and customer requirements

*

Estimates and schedules Product Development Process Quality Assurance (PDQA) work

*

Audits a variety of development projects composed of systems, software, hardware, and test engineering components

*

Maintains PDQA records Mentors Engineering personnel in process requirements Supports supplier qualification efforts of developers

*

Supports the overall performance of the AS9100 and AS9110 QMS

Qualifications

*

Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Physics or related experience

*

Must have 5 or more years of directly related professional experience, preferably in the aerospace industry

*

Must have good understanding the engineering processes, as well as quality management processes and regulatory standards

*

Must be a self-starter, and have the ability to work independently

*

Experience must include working knowledge of manufacturing operations and new product development processes

*

Prefer experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma

*

Must have Avionics software development experience and knowledge of configuration management systems

*

Ability to work in a team environment, good interpersonal skills, and a desire to learn the processes for how ACSS products are developed and managed

*

Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint

*

Must be able to prioritize multiple projects

*

Must have strong analytical skills

*

Candidate must be self-motivated with excellent communications skills

*

Ability to travel occasionally
