Position Description

This position will report to the General Manager and is located in North Kansas City, MO. Travel required is less than 5%, primarily for external training and to support customer visits. The Process Engineer position requires an independent, technically savvy individual with a hands-on personality able to effectively work and communicate with internal customers such as production operators, plant management, and Engineering & Quality teammates, as well as external customers such as outside vendors/suppliers, customers and auditors.

Typical duties include
• Creating programs and troubleshooting industrial controls, machining, and/or welding
• Development of process parameters, machining, weld, and other finishing processes
• Production Fixture and Gauge design using 3D modeling software (ProE/CREO experience preferred)
• Production Job Planning documentation review and preparation
• Training operators on new processes and use of equipment
• Technical Manual/Document review for processes and equipment
• Trouble shooting equipment and processes
• Review of part drawings and equipment manuals to develop processes and design fixtures
• Interaction with Customers (technical and production support), suppliers and regulatory authorities
• Support product and process audits from a technical standpoint
• Provide direct, hands on support to the product line personnel to answer questions, troubleshoot processes and disposition defects
Position Requirements

Requisite Skills
• Under direct supervision, the employee is responsible for supporting existing production operations and developing new processes and fixtures for new product introductions in the plant product lines, as well as process improvements to support safety/quality/productivity initiatives.
• Experience with aircraft engine components is preferred, but not required.
• Candidate must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision to complete the tasks assigned and support the production areas responsible for.
• Excellent communication skills are required, both verbally and written.
• Candidate will be expected to create documents of many different types (Job Instructions, E-mails, Presentations) for a variety of internal and external audiences.
• The candidate must be able to train and effectively communicate to production technicians, Engineers, and Managers.

Software Proficiency
• 3D Modeling Software (CREO/Pro-E Preferred)
• MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required

Technical Requirements
• Strong computer skills.
• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
• Strong project management skills.
• Thorough knowledge of company process, company instruction and rework process instruction manuals.
• Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials and processes.
• Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing process engineering environment.

Education
• Preferred candidate will have an Associates Degree or B.S. Degree in a technical field, with a preference towards mechanical or industrial disciplines. Candidates that have hands-on or design/development experience in mechanical disciplines including CNC/Robot Programming will be preferred.

Physical Requirements
• The ability to lift 25/50 pounds on an infrequent basis
• The ability to stand for more than 6 hours in a day
• The ability to respond quickly to sounds
• The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
• The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly
