Job Summary

This position will provide an exciting opportunity to work closely with world-wide teams on the new COMAC narrow-body C919 Data Link products. The position is for a Principal Technical Project Manager (TPM) to become a team member in the Avionics Engineering’s Airborne Information Solutions engineering department, as the lead of the Data Link COMAC C919 Program. The position will be located in Cedar Rapids, IA, but will require occasional travel to collaborate with COMAC and contributing teams.

Job Responsibilities

* Work closely with the Collins Aerospace Data Link LCVSM.

* Lead engineering efforts across disciplines including systems, subsystems, software, and hardware/operations to develop, test/integrate, certify, and deliver the new Data Link solution for the C919 aircraft.

* Be the direct COMAC contact for Data Link technical and programmatic execution details and exercise scope control.

* Prepare and report Data Link project status to Senior & Executive Collins Aerospace leadership.

* Develop detailed project plans to focus and drive the world-wide teams to achieve project milestones; fulfilling program requirements within quality, schedule, and budgetary goals.

* Manage own tasks and priorities, guide team members on their tasks, task dependencies, and priorities, as well as clear roadblocks to ensure milestones are accomplished.

* Generate bids and coordinate bid inputs for the entire engineering team and contribute to proposal efforts.

* Perform a broad array of programmatic and engineering related tasks to achieve overall program success.

* Apply team leadership qualities to create a positive work environment and rewarding atmosphere of innovation for team members.

* Practice and mentor team members on earned value management, risk management, and metrics definitions.

* Demonstrate excellent critical thinking, team collaboration, and data analysis skills to make decisions and determine proactive actions for predictable successful outcomes.

* Communicate clearly, thoroughly, and diplomatically in both written and oral forms.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline is required.

* Previous successful experience leading a large development project with quality, budget and schedule responsibility is required.

* Previous experience in leading system level integration and certification projects is required.

* Previous experience leading or working with teams executing in Scaled Agile Development activities (SAFe) and/or Scrum methodologies is considered a plus.
