The Fixed Wing Solutions department is seeking a highly motivated Principal Systems Engineer who has experience in leveraging existing and development of new technologies to provide innovative systems solutions for multiple military fixed-wing aircraft avionics systems.

This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A comprehensive relocation package is available.

Responsibilities

*

Systems engineering through all phases of system product development including: program pursuit and capture, requirements capture and analysis, system architecture design, requirements allocation and traceability, system / subsystem integration, system verification, system validation and life-cycle product support.

*

Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

*

Interface with business development, program management, software engineers, product-line systems engineers, hardware engineers, and customers.

*

Designs and manages complex engineering systems over their life cycles.

*

Performs architectural exploration and system road-map development.

*

Recommends investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization’s projects.

Qualifications

*

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.

* This position requires you to work in a restricted facility that requires US Citizenship or Permanent Residence (Green Card).
*

Experience with systems, software and hardware development in an avionics application.

*

Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, ALM, DOORS, Jama, Subversion, and PREP.

*

Ability to break down and execute complex tasks with minimal instructions.

*

Ability to travel up to 10%.

*

Experience taking ownership of tasks and lead efforts spanning multiple internal and external stakeholders.

*

Keen aptitude for technical work that spans multiple levels of detail.

Key qualifications we look for in our Systems Engineering team:

*

Experience with the Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion and / or Flight2 architectures.

*

Aircraft systems experience with the following:

*

Human / machine interface (HUDs, displays and controls)

*

Weapons systems

*

Sensor systems

*

Navigation

*

Intelligence and surveillance

*

Voice and data communications, including data-link

*

Information assurance

*

Flight controls and autopilot systems​

*

Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) development method

*

Knowledge and experience working with Avionics military and civil regulatory and certification requirements, including TSO, DO-160, DO-254, DO-297, DO-178B/C, and ARP4754A.

*

Adaptable to changes in assignments and responsibilities.

*

Highly self-motivated and contributing to a positive work environment.

*

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

*

Works successfully in team-centric environments.
