Job Description

The Mechanical Engineering Department is seeking a Principal/Staff Level Structural Analysis Engineer to provide program support through computer modeling and hand calculations of air, ground and space based electro-optical systems. You should be capable of defining and maintaining cost and schedule on individual activities. You should be capable of working autonomously with a minimum amount of mentoring and supervision. The position requires interaction across internal engineering and program groups as well as with customer representatives.

Qualification: REQUIRED:
* 10 years of direct structural analysis experience. Typical analyses would include linear static analysis, bolted joint analysis, modal analysis, random vibration analysis, fatigue or damage tolerance analysis, nonlinear analysis, shock analysis, acoustic analysis, and/or system level loads analysis.
* Proficiency using hand calculations from reputable authors (Roark’s formulas, Peterson concentration factors, Mark’s Standards, etc.)
* Proficiency using finite element pre and post processing software tools (FEMAP, PATRAN, ANSYS, etc.) Proficiency using finite element solvers (NASTRAN)
* Proficiency using mathematical processing tools (Mathcad, MATLAB, TK Solver, Excel, etc.)
* Demonstrated command of the structural analysis discipline
* Ability to effectively communicate technical information with colleagues, management, and external customers
* Experience writing proposals, BOEs, presentations, and technical reports.
PREFERRED:
* Opto-mechanical performance analysis (surface figure error, line of sight, thermal distortions) with mirrors assemblies, telescopes, windows, and electro-optical sensors.
* Static and dynamic testing experience.
* Exposure to rocket launch and orbital dynamic environments.
* Electrical circuit card assembly survival analysis
* Direct experience with FEMAP
Must be a US citizen and must either hold a current US DoD clearance or must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance.

Education: Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other related field. Masters of Science preferred.
