Our Group Safety team works diligently to ensure operational and workplace safety across all of Jetstar’s Australia & New Zealand functions and our international airlines.

The team is based in Jetstar’s Melbourne office, and supported through onsite professionals around our network.

Safety team accountabilities include setting the airline’s safety strategy and policies, ensuring safety compliance, conducting investigations, and monitoring industry standard developments to enhance safety management system performance.

Reporting to the Manager Safety Assurance Programs your main accountabilities include:

• Conducting Safety Audits and Investigations in accordance with legislative obligations, international standards and Jetstar business requirements
• Championing the development, delivery, and management of Jetstar safety assurance activities
• Plan, coordinate, conduct, monitor and report on safety assurance activities
• Communicate Jetstar safety assurance requirements and expectations
• Capture safety assurance activities through use of the safety data management system
• Communicating with appropriate managers on safety assurance findings, negotiating and monitoring action completion by due dates
• Promote workplace safety and participative management practices
• Provide Manager Safety Assurance Programs with recommended solutions to identified safety opportunities and deficiencies
• Act as the Manager Safety Assurance Programs where required

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Qualifications as an Auditor/Lead Auditor in Quality/Safety Management Systems
• Qualifications or professional membership as an Investigator /preferably in a high risk or transport related industry
• Previous experience as a systems auditor, preferably in aviation or a related industry
• Previous experience as an investigator, preferably in aviation or a related industry
• Extensive experience and understanding of applicable regulatory requirements including the systems approach to safety management in an aviation environment
• The ability to assess management systems and assurance frameworks
• Ability to diagnose system deficiencies through effective root cause analysis
• An understanding and knowledge of risk management practices.
