Job description:                Part M Defect Controller

Reporting to :                   Part M Maintenance Manager

Position Type:                   Full Time

Work Pattern:                   Monday to Friday 8.00am - 16.00pm (Flexibility    needed, as may be required to work outside these                                      hours)

Role Summary : In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager the Defect Controller will review and provide coordinated oversight of the day-to-day fleet serviceability, monitoring defects, reviewing for repetitive trends and suppling proactive measures and/or advice to the Line Maintenance Controllers and Planning Engineers to ensure that all defects are rectified in an efficient and timely manner to provide longer term reliability and on-time departures.  

 

Responsibilities :

  • Identify repetitive defects on the 737 fleet and recommend appropriate action.
  • Assist LMC/PT145 staff to troubleshoot defects to effectively return a/c to service.
  • Liaise with the Line Planning/OCC/LMC departments to create work orders for defect rectification, identify and allocate resources required.
  • Liaise with PT145 maintenance teams/LMC to ensure defects are rectified expeditiously.
  • Monitor fleet acceptable deferred defects ensuring parts/manpower and work orders are raised and issued to ensure expeditious rectification.
  • Ability to liaise with customers and compile technical delay reports upon request.
  • To deputise for the Part M Manager in times of absence.

Attributes :

  • Computer literate, working knowledge of Excel/Word.
  • Flexible working.
  • Able to work in a small team to tight deadlines.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience of either line or base maintenance on 737CL or 737NG aircraft.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

 

Working pattern is 40 hrs per week, the role requires a degree of flexibility due to the variable operational requirements.
