Our strong reputation for highly skilled personnel (10,000 employees across the globe), our reliable engines and our exceptional aftermarket support service network attract customers from all over the world (over 190 countries).

General responsibilities of the position: United Technologies Corporation (UTC; NYSC: UTX) is headquartered in Farmington, CT, just outside of Hartford, CT. We employ over 204,000 talented individuals globally, achieve net sales in excess of $60 billion, and invest $4B each year back into research & development activities. Our aerospace businesses include Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines and UTC Aerospace Systems – the combination of which make us the largest aerospace company in the world. Our commercial businesses include Otis elevators and escalators and UTC Climate, Controls & Security – a leading provider of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire and security systems and building automation controls.

United Technologies Corporation was founded by some of the world’s greatest inventors. We helped build the Second Industrial Revolution and brought about a century of urbanization and globalization. Now we need your help to build the next one.

Tech@UTC is the UTC technology organization, comprised of the global engineering function, several focused centers of expertise, our skunkworks organization – United Technologies Advanced Projects (UTAP), and our advanced Research & Development lab – United Technologies Research Center (UTRC). By combining a passion for science with precision engineering, we create smart, sustainable solutions that prove we can do the big things the right way. We put the “T” in UTC.

United Technologies Advanced Projects (UTAP) is at the heart of UTC’s technology organization, fostering a startup-like culture that is unafraid of failure and trying new things. We are comprised of project teams that are co-located with UTC’s engineering and business footprints. We run fast and deliver convincing product and service demonstrators that will disrupt UTC’s core businesses. UTAP projects bring together UTC’s world-leading expertise in engineering and manufacturing along with top external talent, with project teams located at UTC sites around the world.

Specific responsibilities of position: At UTAP, we are dedicated to supporting fast-paced innovation projects spanning United Technologies’ numerous industries, and we want your skills, expertise, and inclusive leadership to help make this happen. Are you able to formulate top-notch practices that become new standards across an organization? If so, we want to meet you.

In this new role, you will collaborate with the Advanced Operations Lead, leading our powerplant program activities across multiple businesses. We need you to actively enable the Engineering and Flight Operations teams to deliver Project 804’s (UTAP’s hybrid electric demonstrator project) powerplant with furious speed, meeting all specifications and exceeding the demonstrator flight schedule. Do you find yourself excited by the following challenges? As a key member of our team, you will:
• Manage the delivery and readiness of components for the entire hybrid electric powerplant including e-motor, h-engine, battery and all other electrical components.
• Ensure products sourced internally and externally meet program objectives of quality, schedule and engineering requirements.
• Be the voice of Operations to the program, meeting production deliveries, upgrades and rework/modifications.
• Apply your experience, ingenuity and talent to a complex program and unprecedented technical accomplishment, making history with us as we go.

This UTAP project is anticipated to last approximately 24 months and this position will continue until the conclusion of the project.

You will lead a well-coordinated team in the delivery of strategies for efficient and effective program operations. We will trust you to implement these activities, overseeing day-to-day execution, enriching relationships with engineering talent and keeping the UTAP team informed on operations and demonstrator delivery status.
