Main Purpose of the Job (general tasks):

Management of the day to day Ground Handling operation to include Customer Services, Ramp, Spur and Operations Role initially more specifically focused on Operations department but subject to change to cover other listed departments

  • Promote at all times the Vision, Mission and Values of dnata, ensuring these are reflected in day to day working
  • Manage health and safety in the workplace
  • Ensure compliance with all CAA, DfT and HAL By-laws
  • Ensure operational plans are delivered to meet Customer SLAs
  • Lead and coach Traffic Co-ordinator’s / Team Supervisors on the delivery of excellent people management
  • and efficient and timely allocation of resources
  • Lead the delivery of effective people processes including performance management, recruitment, disciplinaries and grievance

Responsibilities (detailed tasks):

  • Lead the Operations department team to ensure compliance and excellence against Customer SLA’s /
  • Processes and regulatory bodies requirements
  • Management of the day to day operation ensuring company procedures and safe working practices are
  • adhered to and performance SLAs are met
  • Lead and manage the daily Plan-Do-Review process ensuring timely data input, communication of outcomes
  • and follow up/completion of all actions
  • Ensure the effective management of staffing, budgetary and financial controls providing management reports
  • as required and using financial forecast and planning models
  • Manage the overtime allocation process.
  • Take proactive action to ensure staff and equipment are allocated to flights in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain a good relationship with customers and third party suppliers both day to day and as
  • the primary contact for designated accounts as required
  • Ensure the proactive timely investigation and professional response to customer reports and complaints
  • Conduct operational meetings and attend HAL and customer meetings as required
  • Overall management of staff, including and not limited to, sickness, absence (taking steps to actively reduce
  • this), task performance, annual leave and overtime
  • Responsible for the resolution of day to day staff issues including disciplinaries, identifying training, conducting
  • staff assessments, coaching, motivating and developing personnel
  • Maintain acceptable staffing levels and rosters when managing employees’ holiday, shift swaps and overtime
  • to ensure Working Time Directive (WTD) standards are not compromised
  • Responsible for regular performance and personal development assessments of designated team members

  • Provide team with clear guidelines and expectations via regular communications updates (face to face, crew room briefings and read and sign)
  • Undertake both internal and external recruitment & selection of staff with HR support as requested
  • Lead the process for staff uniform and PPE issue as required
  • Accountable for on time completion of the probationary process for new staff
  • Ensure Capita system is regularly updated, shifts are correct and all anomalies in overtime payments are cleared
  • Responsible for the timely investigating all incidents and accidents and reporting them in the safety management system in the dnata safety hub
  • Completion of safety audits and safety contacts to ensure standards are maintained and provide support on safety initiatives as required
  • Manage equipment in line with airport servicing regulations and operational requirements also ensuring the
  • daily control and care of equipment including pre use inspections, fault tagging, correct parking, charging etc
  • Support the Operations Manager in all areas of the business
  • Deputise for the Operations Manager as required
  • To undertake any other duties as required by management, commensurate with the grade of the post
