Job Description

Summary Statement: Applies basic and some advanced technical skills and knowledge to operate Metrology equipment to perform inspection, data gathering, reverse engineering and data analysis functions on tools and parts and components for operational aircraft applications. Performs any of the detailed work operations required to be completed in these areas.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

Performs tasks that are simple to moderately complex requiring some skill, experience and judgment to complete. Determines plans and actions from standard procedural alternatives. Performs the required programming, preparation, setup and operation of Metrology equipment such as measurement arms and laser scanners/radars that is varied and moderately complex in scope. The level of work requires experience and sound judgment. Reads and interprets engineering drawings and tools designs which allow for the inspection of fabricated parts and manufactured tooling. Utilizes Metrology equipment software application packages to collect two (2) and three (3) dimensional data of actual parts and tools for inspection, analysis comparison or reverse engineering. Inspects new and reworked tools using Metrology equipment for tool buy-off purposes calibration and/or benchmarking purposes. Maintains proper documentation for inspections, calibrations and part sampling. Assist in maintaining, troubleshooting and repair of Metrology equipment, conducts calibrations on Metrology equipment. Coordinates with tooling and other departments to assure scheduling of work will support production schedules and to provide adequate notice when schedules are revised. Coordinates with hardware/software support personnel to resolve problems with machinery or program errors. Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Formal Education, Training and Work Experience: Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) or more years experience as an inspector in aerospace manufacturing using standard inspection tools, equipment and processes.
Level of Supervision Required:
Works under close to general supervision. Follows standard written or oral instructions. May need additional assistance for complex tasks. Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements: * Demonstrate competency in performing standard job duties * Demonstrate competency in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word or Excel * Demonstrate ability aptitude in the use of software applications such as SA and Catia * Ability to use the following equipment: oLaser Tracker oFaro Arm oFaro Scanner oMicro Height Gage oNikon Laser Radar Special Training and Behavioral Competencies: * Safety training as required by OSHA * Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Stakeholders * Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The Stakeholder is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The Stakeholder must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Overtime is a requirement of the job. Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Mental Requirements: Work in stressful situations and handle multiple priorities. Demonstrate interpersonal, organizational and communication skills to interact effectively with other people, inside and outside the Company.
