Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Ashaway Engineering Systems Group Lead, work with a mentoring Senior or Staff Engineer to support design, fabricate and test components for the automation of heading sensor calibration . The work pertains primarily to the upgrade and automation of the existing facility. Major activities include mechanical design designs, prototype and test of individual parts.
Essential Functions:
1.
Participate in design team’s overall design of automation stage.
2.
Design components for individual parts of the automation stage.
3.
Conduct tests on mechanical components and drive mechanisms.
4.
Interface with contractor that is responsible for automation software.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
1.
Current enrollment in an Engineering program at an accredited university.
2.
Course work in basic engineering design and basic programming required.
3.
Base understanding and proficiency with CAD software.
Certificates and Licenses Required:
1.
U.S. citizen or permanent resident with the ability to obtain US clearance.
2.
Valid state driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1.
Ability to apply base engineering course work to create application specific designs.
2.
Basic experience with CAD.
3.
Strong analytic and communication skills.
4.
Math, physics and computer programming..
5.
Excellent computer skills; ability to comprehend new software applications.
6.
Ability to speak, read and write the English language.
7.
Effective listening skills; pays attention to details; ability to work under pressure; and ability to meet deadlines.
