Role Summary/Purpose

L-3 SSG has an opportunity for an Mechanical Design Engineer 2 to join our talented engineering organization.

Essential Responsibilities

The scope of the position requires a proven track-record in Mechanical Design experience for space based mission system payloads from conceptual trades and detailed designs to supplier and integration & test support of payload level sensor systems for the aerospace and commercial community.

Qualifications

Qualifications/ Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Design.

• 15+ years of experience in designing electro-optical and opto-mechanical payloads and sub-systems for aerospace & military defense applications.

• Knowledge in 3D parametric CAD modeling and PDM systems. Experience with Inventor and Vault highly desirable.

• Experience in mechanical and structural analysis and payload level integration & test for space-based environments is desired.

• Experience in developing interfaces between spacecraft, payload systems, and sub-assemblies is required.

• Experience supporting new business pursuits and proposals efforts is required.

• Strong self-motivation

• Active TS/SCI/SSBI security clearance is highly desired. The ability to obtain a TS/SCI/SSBI security clearance is required.

Primary airborne contributions include hyperspectral payloads for specialized overseas missions and critical line-of-sight control sub-systems for targeting systems.
