Position Description

Mechanic
Since individuals in this position hold multiple endorsements, the incumbent will perform a combination of the following activities:
 Performs dismantling, inspection, balancing, testing, and assembly of engines, modules, components and assemblies in accordance with all applicable technical, customer, regulatory, and company requirements. Uses machines, jigs, fixtures, gauges, precision measuring tools/instruments, plant equipment, hand or power tools, and consumables necessary to carry out the required tasks.
 Ensures the products to be inspected are sufficiently clean and in acceptable condition to perform the inspections necessary to complete the work instruction. Performs visual, dimensional, and/or non-destructive test inspection of products being processed for repair or overhaul to verify their conformance to the approved data and customer requirements.
 Checks for serviceability, conformity, documentation completeness and compatibility compliance to applicable standards; determines the reparability of those products not meeting the applicable requirements.
 Reads and interprets technical standards, drawings, specifications, and other relevant documentation to identify product discrepancies and deficiencies.
 Sets up, operates, and programs specialized equipment in order to make complex, precise measurements of materials or to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of one or more types of engines and/or accessory units; performs equipment and material maintenance checks in accordance with the appropriate company process.
 Reads and interprets measurement data and/or reads, interprets, calculates, and evaluates test data/results as required.
 Liaises with engineering and other production personnel as required to troubleshoot, research, and solve technical problems.
 Documents the modification status/configuration of products being processed for repair or overhaul; maintains detailed repair, inspection, maintenance, and certification records and reports of work performed.
 Uses production systems to generate production routings, retrieve technical work instructions, document product condition, requisition material, report labor usage, and report product location and production status.
 Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
 Cross-trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
 Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
 Participates in cross-training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
 Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
 Carries out other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
 High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.
 Working knowledge of relevant equipment, procedures, limits, and troubleshooting methods to be used.
 Ability to read, understand and interpret schematics, graphs, charts, blueprints, and other technical information; proficient in technical writing where applicable.
 Knowledgeable and proficient in the proper use of precision measuring equipment.
 Knowledgeable and demonstrated ability to identify and interpret conditions on products that are the result of service operation.
 Extensive knowledge of the functions and operation of the products being dismantled/assembled/balanced/inspected/tested.
 Experience interpreting Original Equipment Manufacturer’s manuals.
 Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
 Good planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
 Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.
 Regularly required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
 Attainment of applicable process stamp(s) or approvals and ability to complete the relevant training and development plans.
 Specialized training in a recognized gas turbine engine maintenance program; or equivalent.
 Experience in two (2) or more of the following: assembly and dismantling, detail inspection, CMM (coordinate measuring machines), testing, balancing, and NDT (non-destructive testing) in a mechanical or aerospace environment.
