Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Accomplishes specific forecasting functions associated to assigned ATA (Air Transport Association) chapters; conducts parts reviews to support Fleet Service Levels; participates in parts-related projects specific to assigned ATA chapters; and assists other departments with material planning functions.

WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:

* Identifies and collects cost saving initiatives, cost avoidance, and cost deferral opportunities; performs detailed analysis, interprets results, and derives recommendations; and presents to Management for consideration
* Determines and implements appropriate stock levels to achieve best parts service levels for assigned ATA chapters and stations, balancing cost with operational considerations
* Coordinates with appropriate Engineering and Production counterparts as new opportunities arise to create and implement project plans for assigned categories, and holds others accountable to plan
* Identifies and champions efforts to resolve parts support challenges affecting service levels for assigned ATA chapters

Inventory Management:

* Has good knowledge of material planning software and utilizes it efficiently and effectively in daily tasks. Processes part transfer in system so that Materials Specialists can pull the part and send it to destination
* Liaises with Southwest Airlines Maintenance groups and Stations to provide personalized point of contact and good level of Customer Service
* Ensures timely migration between systems and migration clean up

Supply Chain Optimization:

* Proactively performs preventative system tasks to optimize current processes
* Learns from experience and determines proactive measures to avoid repeating gaps
* Regularly adjusts and administers parts needs at various Stations to improve fill rates and service levels

Master Production Schedules:

* Tracks movement of parts and, with direction, creates stocking plan modifications as needed to avert stocking issues
* Monitors the activities relating to parts in order to take necessary actions (e.g., transfer, purchase, etc.) in order to support Store and Line Stations, with some direction and guidance
* Shows more proficiency over time in producing schedules autonomously

Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

* High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION:

* Four-year undergraduate degree required; business administration; supply chain management; aviation logistics; finance; accounting; industrial engineering/distribution; economics; mechanical, electrical, chemical, or aerospace engineering; or degrees in similar disciplines preferred
* Can substitute five years of supply chain-related experience for degree

WORK EXPERIENCE:

* No prior experience required; six months experience in a professional work environment preferred
* Experience in vendor and supplier relationship management preferred
* Prior experience using Servigistics, Service Parts Management (SPM), Click, Zelus, I2, or similar material planning and forecasting software systems preferred
* Familiarity with aircraft parts and systems, ATA chapters, and supply chain management organizations and practices preferred
* Working knowledge of Ariba and SAP preferred
* Familiarity with Aircraft Task Cards; parts manuals; and various Southwest Airlines and Boeing systems including Wizard, TRAX, Maintenix, My Boeing Fleet, and Toolbox to enable technical research into parts issues within assigned ATA chapters preferred

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION:

* Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), Certified Professional Purchasing Manager (CPPM), Certified Green Purchasing Professional (CGPP), Certified Professional in Distribution and Warehousing (CPDW), Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations (CPSO), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), or other equivalent Supply Chain Management certification preferred
* A&P license strongly preferred

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

* Ability to perform work duties from desk/office work area for extended periods of time

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

* Proficient analytical skills required
* Demonstrated ability to analyze unfamiliar data and reach preliminary conclusions as to its meaning, as well as synthesize information and take proactive action with minimal guidance
* Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables) and PowerPoint and data manipulation skills required
* Must demonstrate the highest level of ethics and integrity in all supplier relations

Communicates Effectively:

* Produces complete and accurate communications, including reports
* Uses active listening skills when interacting with internal and external Customers and Leader
* Demonstrates a good understanding of audience needs and preferences

Plans and Aligns:

* Demonstrates good time management skills; acts with a sense of urgency

* Consistently provides a fair amount of lead time when depending on others to respond to questions

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
* Ability to work flexible hours to successfully meet deadlines; extended work hours, including occasional weekend coverage may be required
* Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport
* Possible travel domestically/internationally 10-15%

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
