Specific Job Description

* Developing Manufacturing Processes within any of the following technologies;
* NC Machining
* Composite Manufacture
* Welding & Fabrication
* Vehicle Integration & Test
* Cable Harness / LRU Manufacture
* Mechanical Assembly
* Painting and Surface Treatments

* Defining sequence of operations, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling taking into account flow and lean philosophies.
* Providing Basis of Estimates for Engineering activities and Shop Floor Operations across a range of technologies and disciplines
* Identifying any new tooling & fixturing requirements
* Experienced in the creation of Technical Requirement Specifications
* Creation of Detailed Process Instructions
* Creation of Manufacturing BOM’s / routings to aid ease of manufacture.
* Active involvement in the Level 1 MDWT (Mission Directed Work Team) meetings.
* Identification, Procurement and commissioning of Capital Equipment
* Supporting full rate production of a range of products aligned to the LMUK Ampthill Business.
* Close liaison of activities with Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering and other functions as necessary.
* Support with the business process reviews and generation / update of relevant documentation.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

* Good communication skills that can sell and influence to a range of audiences internally and externally with the ability to work with all levels of the business
* An independent thinker, able to take an assertive stance to enforce the key requirements of quality and the customer
* Demonstrate a level of design and manufacturing process industry experience; which may include mechanical assembly, machining, fabrication, welding, casting, plastic molding and robotics.
* CI, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodology, Quality toolset experience.
* Experience of preparing operational documentation and manufacturing data-packs.
* Detailed understanding of the fundamentals of MRP and experience in the maintenance of Manufacturing BOM’s and routings and controlling factors within SAP (or similar ERP software).
* Experience of designing production layouts through workflow analysis, TAKT evaluation and removal of Non-Value Added (NVA) activity.
* Experience of driving change in process, behaviour and culture.
* Awareness of DFM/A and PFMEA principles and the use of them in a practical application to support Industrial Engineering activity.
* Familiar with the use of CAD software to generate 2D technical drawings
* Understanding of SPC data and calculations
* Problem solving experience (8D, A3, Root Cause Analysis etc.)
* Strong analytical skills.
* Key competences: Personal accountability, building relationships, planning for results, customer first, adaptability.

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

* Experience in activities & techniques relating to the introduction of new products (NPI)
* Computer Literate (MS Office/Project/Visio)
* Knowledge of Windchill or similar tool for documentation management.
* Project Management Experience.
