Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to its space, missile defense, strategic, tactical missile and armaments customers throughout domestic and international markets. This position would be located at our facility in Redmond, Washington where we develop and manufacture propulsion products used on satellites, space probes and other spacecraft.

The Production Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for working directly with a program assigned manufacturing engineer in an integrated program team (design, quality, contracts and program), to ensure all engineering/manufacturing requirements are met within manufacturing documentation. This will require working directly with assembly/test technicians to implement processes, and look for ways to continually improve them.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working under general supervision:

40% - Maintain, update, and write manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, standard operating procedures, process specifications, and process instructions. Work directly with a Program Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, and Design Engineering to obtain requirements necessary to successfully build production hardware.

30% - Interface with Teamcenter Enterprise, and Oracle to enter manufacturing bill of material and routings to ensure that operations, resources, and lead times are correct. These inputs feed directly into our material resource planning system, and enable the site to manage capacity requirements.

20% - Work to improve administrative processes, using lean techniques such as fishbone, process flow, and kaizan.

10% - Develop documentation standards, to decrease lead time, and increase quality accuracy of manufacturing documentation.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related major and at least two years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings. Requires strong technical writing and verbal communication skills. PowerPoint skills are necessary. Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of Oracle and Teamcenter Enterprise is a plus. Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and improvement techniques are desired.

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
