Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to join our high performing Sensing & Component Systems Unit in Lynnwood, WA.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer II performs independent assignments to develop and recommend improvements in the Manufacturing system and in product manufacturability and cost effectiveness.

Responsibilities

* Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, flow, fixtures and tooling as needed to support production

* Investigate, recommend, and implement manufacturing cost reduction and product improvement programs

* Identify root cause and corrective actions for manufacturing problems

* Participate in customer specification and statement of work reviews

* Participate in the review and evaluation of new product designs or design changes

* Review and analyze design change requests initiated by manufacturing personnel to determine feasibility, validity, savings, effect on design, and to verify justification for change

* Evaluate, test and select facilities, equipment and materials required for production in conjunction with Production Supervisors, Purchasing and other groups

* Perform a variety of cost analyses, e.g., cost estimates for quotations or "make or buy" decisions

* Develop manufacturing operating instructions

* Develop and track manufacturing metrics to monitor the health of processes

* Evaluate non-conformances as part of the Material Review Board

* Direct work activities of production operators to aid in problem solving

* Develop procedures and train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications

* Coordinate with vendors and customers

* Identify and prioritize work with limited input from manager

* Develop ROI or business case and present to management in the support of capital equipment, new product or process development and productivity improvements

* Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Requirements

Education/Certification:

* BA or BS degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field

Experience:

* Two or more years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer

Knowledge:

* Practical application knowledge of the theories of modern production principles and methods as applied to a high technology electronics design and manufacturing operation

* Basic knowledge of material characteristics and processing, chemicals

* Basic concepts of electrical systems, mechanical systems, fluids, and heat transfer

Skills/Abilities:

* Able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualification

* Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment

Employment Eligibility Requirement

* Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and not require Visa sponsorship to be eligible. Because we contract with the US Department of Defense we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Working Conditions

* Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

* Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

* May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

* May be required to work overtime on occasion, as needed

* Flexible work schedule to support production
