Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III to be part of our highly-skilled Tiger Team in Lynnwood, WA.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer III performs complex and varied work to develop and recommend improvements in the Manufacturing system and in product manufacturability and cost effectiveness.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Drive improvements to supplier quality and manufacturing processes utilizing process control methodologies to minimize variation

* Drive product quality through systematic problem solving and process improvement plans

* Work closely with Supplier Quality Engineering and Supply Chain to manage New Product Introductions and work transfers, conduct new supplier validation audits and capacity & capability assessments

* Provide technical expertise and leadership to sourcing and development of suppliers with respect to technology, performance, quality and cost

* Deliver results as measured by key metrics, such as supplier yield, defective parts per million (DPPM), supplier on-time delivery, field defect rate, supplier quality plan engagement/ effectiveness, and corrective & preventative action closure

* Provide leadership during investigations of major problems and/or special projects focusing on developing working relationships with suppliers and supply chain with regard to variation management

* Work with Engineering Team (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements

* Evaluate non-conformances as part of the Material Review Board

* Direct work activities of production operators to aid in problem solving

* Develop procedures and train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications

* Coordinate with vendors and customers

* Ability to identify and prioritize work with limited input from manager

* Able to develop ROI or business case and present to management in the support of capital equipment, new product or process development and productivity improvements.

* Champion in a Crane Business Systems (CBS) / continuous improvement tool set

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

* BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material science, or related field

Experience:

* Five (5) or more years’ experience as Manufacturing Engineer in a regulated manufacturing environment

* Experience in using quality tools, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), First Articles, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), 8D, Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA), control plan, process controls, Root Cause – Corrective Action (RCCA), to understand and ultimately resolve challenges in the supply chain and internally.

* Experience and understanding of manufacturing standards (e.g. ISO-9001, ISO-14001, ISO/TS 16949, AS-9100 and IPC standards)

* Experience with process and product audits (internal & suppliers) preferred

* Demonstrated experience as an internal ‘change agent’ within a company, and externally with suppliers with positive results.

Knowledge:

* Practical application of the theories of modern production principles and methods as applied to a high technology design and manufacturing operation

* Knowledge of material characteristics and processing, chemicals, basic concepts of: electrical systems, mechanical systems, fluids, and heat transfer

Skills/Abilities:

* Effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization

Employment Eligibility Requirement

* Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and not require Visa sponsorship to be eligible. Because we contract with the US Department of Defense we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Working Conditions:

* Flexible work schedule to support production

* Travel to assigned suppliers, up to 50% (domestic and international)

* Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.

* Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
