Position Description:

Zygo seeks a highly talented team player with strong technical and communication skills to help enhance Zygo’s products by improving manufacturing processes and developing new capabilities. This engineer’s primary responsibilities will be the development, implementation and standardization of manufacturing processes used to build high quality Zygo products. A qualified person must have demonstrated the ability to define, plan and execute projects, pay strict attention to detail and possess strong organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
•Work with the R&D engineers to coordinate the transition of new product development including: testing, integration, processes, procedures, tooling, capital equipment and fixturing
•Evaluate and advise the manufacturing teams in their efforts to continuously improve assembly & test processes, focusing on electrical components (PCBs, motors & cables), sub-assemblies and systems
•Develop & implement test fixtures that can drive motion stages (X-Y and P/R) in order to screen or trouble shoot stages for factors such as noise, binding etc.
•Investigate root causes of product failure and develop permanent corrective actions. Provide failure analysis for components rejected in Quality Control and/or production. Components include electrical cables, precision motion systems/stages, motors and PCB’s
•Provide technical and problem-solving assistance to customers, vendors and Zygo personnel especially the manufacturing teams
•Work with the R&D engineers to prepare technical requirements, budgets and schedules for test system development projects
•Create and maintain production process documentation
•Evaluate and qualify potential suppliers/vendors and develop partnerships with key ones
