Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Position Summary:

Under limited supervision, coordinates engineering of new and existing products from pre-production to efficient manufacturing. Examines manufacturing problems to determine the causes of product quality discrepancies and generates solutions to improve manufacturing processes and techniques. Recommends capital expenditures and production methods for new products.

Position Accountabilities:

1. Assesses manufacturing processes by analyzing manufacturing performance data and by making recommendations for improvements in the manufacturing operations.

1. Develops drawings and other engineering documentation to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.

1. Recommends tool and fastener design changes and revision of mechanical processes to facilitate manufacturing or improve performance.

1. Analyzes specifications and drawings to ensure that products are manufactured to the customer’s requirements, and reviews statistical process control data to recommend appropriate actions.

1. Assists in decisions concerning rework procedures or disposition of the non-conforming materials, and recommends solutions to various manufacturing problems.

1. Complies with all environmental safe practices and regulations. Reads all MSDS’ and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements.

1. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Position Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION

* Bachelor’s degree in engineering

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

* 3-5 years

* Blueprint reading
* Compose letters/memorandums
* Use computer software (MS Office): Excel, Word
* Calculator
* Photocopier
* Manufacturing processes
* Metallurgy
* Heading, threadrolling, machining, and assembly process
* Heat-treating and plating
* Tool design and process development
