Position description

Flight Operations Regulations & Policies is a section within the Flight Operations Standards and is responsible for ensuring that all the relevant regulatory requirements are incorporated into the relevant SWISS Operations Manuals (OMM, OM A, OM C).

As Manager Flight Operations Regulations & Policies you will develop proposals for the SWISS Operations Manuals in response to regulatory changes, internal policy adjustments and feedback from users in close consultation with the Lufthansa Group. In addition to the SWISS policy team you will work closely with your colleagues in Flight Operations Standards and with various other units of the SWISS Operations Division and counterparts within the Lufthansa Group. In this position you will work both independently and as part of a small team of specialists which reports to the Head of Flight Operations Regulations & Policies.

This position offers you an excellent opportunity to contribute your regulatory expertise to the organization and structures of SWISS and the Lufthansa Group.

Your Duties

* Developing and seeking approval for modifications and additions to the Operations Manuals of SWISS and the Lufthansa Group owing to

* new regulatory provisions (from ICAO, EASA, IOSA and the NAAs)

* revised processes/worktools
* harmonizations within the Lufthansa Grou
* Supporting divisional superiors and Nominated Persons on policy issues
* Processing employee and crew reports on policy issues
* Channelling feedback into content revisions of Operation Manuals
* Updating the regulatory documentation (from ICAO, EASA, IOSA and the NAAs) on the internal documentation platform
* Supporting and deputizing in the area of Regulatory Affairs Operations for:

* internal approvals of planned regulatory modifications
* the internal publication of current ICAO and EASA documents

Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in aviation or equivalent
* at least five years of relevant work experience
* detailed knowledge of operational regulations (EASA, ICAO, IOSA)
* experience in working with EASA Operations Manual structures and content
* experience in an airline’s flight operations support environment
* experience in devising and developing aviation policies and procedures
* experience in devising and developing manuals for flight crew and cabin crew members
* good working knowledge of the usual IT applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
* appreciation of regulatory contexts
* knowledge and awareness of the human factors in policies, procedures and Operations Manuals
* experience in an airline’s other operational areas (such as maintenance, security, flight safety, dispatch or ground operations) is an advantage
* ability to work independently, precisely and in an analytical and structured way
* willingness to assume responsibility and deliver an above-average performance
* flexibility, openness and good communications and teamwork skills
* a very good spoken and written command of English and (preferably) at least basic German skills
