Sustainable development is one of the priorities of the air transport industry. IATA is leading in many environment initiatives, such as CORSIA, Biofuels, Illegal wildlife trafficking. In this role, you’ll be joining the Member and External Relations (MER) team, reporting to the Regional Head of MER North Asia.

The incumbent will be working with key stakeholders and decision-makers on environment affairs, to define and implement major policies and positions, liaising with member airlines, to help airlines to prepare for the implementation environment projects, maximize the value of the IATA memberships.

This role will also drive IATA’s efforts in achieving the environment protection targets, especially within the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) across the region.

Responsibilities

Support the Regional Head of MER in advocating key MER positions to national governments and regulatory authorities, including general legislative, regulatory and policy development, and other specific rules or policies related to the broader scope of IATA activities, especially on environmental affairs.

Develop and coordinate action plans to manage the MER priorities and targets across the region, ensuring both a unified regional approach and an adequate country-specific coverage of the MER topics.

In coordination with the relevant MER (and other appropriate IATA departments) provide Country Manager and other employees in the region with guidance and support for achieving regional MER targets on governmental and environmental affairs.

Provide timely reports to Regional Head MER regarding the progress of work and the achievement of set MER objectives.

Participate in building and maintaining a proactive and coordinated approach to relationships with Member airlines and other industry stakeholders, and ensure the region is following best practices in account management.

Contribute to the development of the regional strategy and input on the industry priorities from an MER point of view.

Qualifications and Skills

University degree preferably in International Relations or International Law.

A minimum of 10 years of international/government working experience and extensive knowledge of the aviation industry, government and aviation background preferred;

In-depth knowledge of environmental protection in aviation field and governmental and legal affairs;

Strong communication, relationship management and negotiation skills;

Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both Chinese and English are essential.
