Based at our Head Office in Melbourne this role manages all aspects of aircraft entry in service (EIS) and disposal/end of lease (EOL) and is the single point of contact for projects and initiatives requests from other business units including JANZ Operations Improvement and Jetstar Group Commercial.

More broadly, you will ensure oversight of resource allocation and financial controls, accurately capturing and reporting costs associated with all projects across JANZ Engineering whilst working with the Manager Technology Innovation and operationalising new technology initiatives.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, your main accountabilities will include:

• Coordinate timely introduction/disposal of aircraft including project planning, governance, liaison with lessor/s, OEM’s, regulatory authorities and JANZ, Jetstar group and Qantas stakeholders, status reports and risk assessments
• Responsible for identifying and championing best practise project governance and process improvement methodologies
• Coordinating projects and initiatives within JANZ Engineering including Chairing the JANZ Engineering Projects, Initiatives and Technology Council
• Responsible for coordinating Post Implementation Reviews (PIR) of all projects to identify and embed lessons learnt
• Manage, guide, develop and support project managers across the business
• Monitor and review departmental OHS performance
• Demonstrate commitment and leadership to OHS by participating in meetings, inspections and other appropriate activities
• Encourage and promote in achieving a safe and healthy workplace
• Complete performance management process (i.e. KPI setting, regular feedback, periodic appraisals, development plans, etc.) for direct reports

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Engineering trade qualification, tertiary qualification in Aviation/Engineering/Management or comparable industry experience
• Ability to maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance
• Experience in process improvement (ie. Lean and Six Sigma)
• Sound knowledge of business management, business analysis and review techniques
• Proven experience in management positions coupled with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of business
• Understanding of aviation legislation
• Strong leadership, people and interpersonal skills including the ability to work cross-functionally with other areas of Jetstar and external parties
• Experience with leading a high performing team in an operational environment
• Experience at a high capacity passenger transport operator/s desirable
