Based at our Head Office in Melbourne this role manages all aspects of our Engineering commercial agreements, freight providers and warranty recoveries and insurance. You will drive increased financial acumen across JANZ Engineering whilst working with Finance, Commercial and other stakeholders to ensure delivery of Engineering financial initiatives

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, your main accountabilities will include:

• Ensure contracts are in place for all commodities and maintenance/services for JANZ Engineering
• Periodically validate current contracts to benchmark market rates
• Issue RFI’s/RFP’s to establish options for maintenance services
• Extracts rights and privileges from all contracts and agreements
• Ensure effective supplier relationship management to achieve contract deliverables and OEM support
• Manage freight agreement/s to ensure service delivery is achieved
• Ensure warranty recovery processes are in place to extract maximum warranty recoveries from OEM’s and suppliers
• Manage insurance recoveries for all aircraft incidents including damage events
• Champion increased awareness of financial acumen across JANZ Engineering including assisting other managers to actively manage controllable costs, benchmarking and maintenance economics training
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships within the Jetstar Group, the Qantas Group, and throughout the industry

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Engineering trade qualification, tertiary qualification in Aviation/Engineering/Management or comparable industry experience
• Understanding of aviation legislation
• Experience in a Commercial leadership role
• Ability to communicate & negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance
• Experience in process improvement (ie. Lean and Six Sigma) Process driven including constructing new processes to deliver business goals required
• Sound knowledge of business management, business analysis and review techniques
• Proven experience in management positions coupled with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of business
• Strong leadership, people and interpersonal skills including the ability to work cross-functionally with other areas of Jetstar and external parties
• Experience with leading a high performing team in an operational environment
• Experience at a high capacity passenger transport operator/s desirable
