About the Role

Our client seeks an experienced Fire Fighter with management and training experience to join their Operational Senior Management team in Wellington. Using your skills and experience you’ll take the lead in the safety and operational management of the Airport Fire Fighting service. This is a challenging and complex environment where the key responsibilities of the role include providing high visibility leadership, emergency management, crew training and oversight of safety.

About You 

  • To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following essential qualifications and skills: 
  • Strong people leader who builds engagement and moral but can also hold the line when necessary 
  • Minimum of 5+ years managing teams in a similar or equivalent environment 
  • Minimum of 5 years previous firefighting experience at an airport, military or civilian brigades at an officers level (full time/volunteer); 
  • Experience or exposure to collective bargaining and or unions 
  • Experience in fire protection, fire prevention and public safety; 
  • CIMS 4 certified or equivalent crises management training; 
  • Experience in fire training and adult education; 
  • Ability to communicate at all levels; 
  • Boatmaster qualification or equivalent (not necessary but desirable)
