Perform diverse and difficult visual, mechanical, and functional inspection duties on aircraft in the assembly process including but not limited to systems checks, testing, calibration, verification, measuring, and documentation of mechanical and cosmetic acceptance or rejection of components/systems; verify the aircraft has been manufactured to the latest aircraft production order, engineering data, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations; Ensure that system checks and related paperwork have been satisfactorily completed. Use a variety of hand tools, check fixtures, tension meters, protractors, gauges, measuring, and test equipment. Must have specific knowledge of complete aircraft models produced in their area of responsibility and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

* Work from and follow travelers blueprints, rework/rejection tags, Aircraft Production Orders, schematics, engineering orders, Piper Production Specifications (PPS), Piper Material Specifications (PMS), Material Review Board, and verbal/written instruction.

* Interpret and work from Quality Assurance Manual (QAM), Standard Repair Manual (VB-80), Aircraft Production Orders (APO), CIP drawings.

* Review production travelers, serial number records, correction sheets, CIP packages, engineering orders, and compliance sheets for legibility, completeness, and accuracy on previous operations.

* Verify that all time-sensitive aircraft components or processes are current.

* Ensure that only current and approved drawings, specifications, FAR’s, QAM instructions, and travelers are used during production and testing of aircraft and components.

* Perform a variety of difficult visual and physical inspections and tests to aircraft and flight systems.

* Utilize a variety of hand tools, precision measuring devices, check templates, gages and various test equipment.

* Verify compliance with functional/system tests, procedures, type design data, flight safety requirements, and cosmetic acceptability.

* Perform conformity inspections as required.

* Note and report deviations from specifications and initiate required documentation to effect corrective action or disposal of rejected materials.

* Interface with Manufacturing, Engineering, and other departments as necessary to achieve corrective actions and determine cause.

* Maintain accurate records of inspections and procedures accomplished.

* Ensure aircraft is ready to be released to preflight.

* Monitor assigned work area for adherence to procedures and processes, proper use of tools and fixtures, calibration date of tools in use, shelf life of rubber goods and adhesives, proper storage of materials and components, and safety practices.

* Scrutinize every facet of job and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to Supervisor.

* Requires the use of and ownership of basic tools and various hand tools as specified by departmental tool list.

* Perform housekeeping chores as department requirements dictate.

* Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), 3 - 5 years of related experience and training / equivalent combination of education and experience.
