As a key member of the Systems Supportability Team the position requires an ILS Lead with strong logistics and in service support skills to identify, develop and implement cost effective and optimised support solutions for a variety of maritime programmes and capabilities.

This will include :

* Define and manage the ILS Programmes
* Define technical responsibilities and allocation of the Maritime ILS Team
* Develops integrated logistics strategies and solutions
* Ensure that the Technical Customer, Supplier and internal interfaces are effectively managed including working within an engineering team to influence and provide guidance on the reliability and supportability of the design
* Provide ILS Management for Maritime In service support programmes
* Support proposal activities with initial support solution development and responses to PQQ,ITT and proposal requests
* Develop the ILS aspects of new business, including performance, schedule and cost parameters.
* Take on programme responsibilities, such as Programme management and IPT leadership as agreed with the System Supportability manager.
* Ensure that ILS products/solutions are not only delivered to a high standard, on schedule and within budget but are clear discriminators for LMUKIS.
* Work closely with the Systems Supportability Manager, to ensure that he/she is kept fully aware of all technical and personnel issues.
* Provide appropriate and controlled escalation of technical issues.
* Comply with legislative requirements and Company and department procedures and ensure currency of knowledge in subject areas.
* Builds relationships with strategic customers through logistics initiatives. Integrates learning from customers, competitors, operating entities, distribution, transportation, customer service, other industries, industry groups, and professional training to continuously improve competitive position
* Responsible to the Systems Supportability Manager for technical performance of the ILS activities
* Work closely with the Systems Supportability Manager and programme ILS Leads, to ensure that they are kept fully aware of all technical issues.
* Provide appropriate and controlled escalation of technical issues.
* Comply with legislative requirements and Company and department procedures

The ILS Lead Engineer Maritime Systems will be expected to perform and work from broad guidance, and provide status to their management regularly. The position will normally be on-site at Havant; however there will be need for regular liaison with Supplier and Sub contractors in UK and abroad, as well as briefing to other team members, Leads, and Management.

The ILS Lead Engineer Maritime Systems will be required to communicate effectively verbally and through E-mail with and will be expected to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and show a degree of flexibility in working hours when required to meet project milestones.

Lockheed Martin UK Integrated Systems develops and supports capabilities both for Military and Civil markets. The Systems Supportability department develops and implements support solutions for these capabilities. One of the key roles of the department is the development and implementation of the support infrastructure in support of our Maritime Programmes

This role is for an ILS Lead Engineer (Maritime Systems) who will provide ILS technical support across the full spectrum of Lockheed Martin’s Maritime programmes. Reporting to the Chief Support Architect and Systems Supportability Manager, and working with functional and programme managers to define, develop and implement technical support solutions across the Lockheed Martin maritime business. This position is based at Havant, Hampshire with requirements to travel throughout the UK and occasionally internationally.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

* Detailed understanding of the development of logistic support solutions
* Knowledge and experience of ILS disciplines and the associated issues
* Minimum of 15 years experience, including 10 in aerospace (military / commercial)
* Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment
* Good leadership skills
* Fully conversant with two or more specialist areas within ILS.
* Considerable experience in developing and managing the ILS aspects of Studies, Proposals, Statements of Work, System Requirement Specifications, System Design Documents, Interface Control Documents, Requirements Validation Matrices, Test Procedures and Test Reports.
* Familiar with ILS Requirements Capture and Apportionment, Prediction, Validation and Verification techniques.
* Implementing Def Stan 00-600 and its supporting Defence Standards, the DLF, MIL Standards and AECMA specifications
* Experienced in project management techniques such as scheduling, earned value management and task estimation (BOEs
* Formulation of ILS plans/schedules, engineering cost estimates. Preparation and submission of Basis of Estimates
* Technical leadership of ILS programmes, including schedule and resource definition and management.
* Management of supplier relationship and negotiation of issues with customer, to establish good working relationships with suppliers and customers
