Job Description
Barnes Aerospace West Chester OEM division is seeking a Hot Form C/Lathe Operator on 3rd shift. The ideal candidate should be a quick learner with attention to detail and strong analytical/problem solving skills. Core Responsibilities:
* Preps and loads dies into hot form furnaces according to specified procedures
* Adjusts and monitors furnace temperature
* Prepares material sheets and places them into hot form furnaces locating them properly
* Monitors temperature, tonnage, pressure and time according to job specifications
* Removes parts from furnace and inspects for flaws, imperfections and dimensions using measuring instruments, templates, overlays, gauges, visual inspection or other methods
* Operates multiple hot form furnaces simultaneously
* Cleans dies during the run to remove pits, dirt, etc.
* Operate computerized numerically controlled (CNC) machines and lathe with minimum supervision; perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on diversified work to close and exacting tolerances.
* Set up and operate machines to perform difficult machining operations and improvise tooling and machine attachments to accomplish desired results.
* Correlate machine position with control; manually cycle machine through operation sequence to check fixture and work alignment, tooling sequences, clearances, speeds, feeds, etc., and adjust machine to correct deviations from program specifications.
* Diagnose operating difficulties and make appropriate remedial adjustments to realign machine or correct programming to correct operations or dimensional deviations.
* Work from drawings, specifications, programming and setup instructions and data.
* Monitor parts dimensions using jigs, fixtures, gages, calipers, micrometers, comparator, and height gages to assure conformity of parts.
* Complete paperwork required to document the quantity of parts completed.
* Responsible for the maintaining of a clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
* Perform other duties as required.
Required Skills
Qualifications:
* 1-2 years’ experience operating CNC machines or lathes.
* Able to use basic math to add, subtract, multiply, or divide and may work with fractions, decimals, or percentages.
* Able to handle multiple tasks effectively
* Able to read, understand and follow written work instructions and blue prints
* Proficient at using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and dial indicators
Education Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED required.
