Overview

The position will be to develop and drive sourcing strategies for the AJW Group for component repair, challenge and seek out opportunities to support the business plans and goals. Excellent execution of the procurement process to support the role of the function as a center of excellence. To contribute as a senior member of the Procurement Team in developing the skill set and profile of the function across the business. Ultimately the successful candidate will be responsible for sub-function profit centre management and implementation of value creating supply chain strategies.

Responsibilities

Purchasing Strategy and Expertise

* Develop robust supply strategies to drive maximum outcomes from buying power
* Working closely with key stakeholders to establish explicit financial targets and non-financial benefits and deliver them to demonstrate measurable contribution to business targets and goals
* Use internal and external knowledge to establish a long-term category strategy to support the development of business opportunities.
* Identifying, driving and delivering opportunities to collaborate across category areas to add value to the business and ensure we are buying at our best
* Drive preferential outcomes in vendor contracting with demonstrable understanding of key contractual requirements

Procurement Governance and Compliance

* Contribute to the development and implementation within the category of purchasing governance processes and KPI’s, including delegation of approval, segregation of duties and P2P
* Responsible for processes to be run in accordance with set governance and report any issues or concerns
* Responsibility to ensure agreements correctly capture the required P2P processes and are accepted by suppliers
* Ensure stakeholders understand their responsibilities in implementing and working compliantly with P2P processes

Stakeholder Management

* Build relationships with all relevant business and team stakeholders
* Provide guidance and input to help determine the procurement direction for the activity to help meet the business owners objectives
* With insight and information from external sources to support the development of supply strategies with key customers
* Responsible for credibility of the function with stakeholders through understanding expectations, managing requirements and providing solutions to support the Customer needs
* Contribute to the development of and participate in delivery of educating in the role of Procurement across the business

Strategic Vendors

* Support the vendor management teams through contribution to the ongoing governance process with strategic vendors
* Act as a point of escalation for issues as required
* Provide input to vendor management teams on vendor performance during procurement activities
* Team Management
* Provide clear goals and objectives for all members of the Team
* Develop the Team structure to be best deliver contribution to the business
* Investing time and effort in developing skills and capabilities regarding knowledge of category, procurement best practice

Person Specification

* Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking and turn this into output
* Experienced negotiator with track record of results including very good knowledge of contract law in relation to the category
* Commodity & Industry expertise
* Represent A J Walter Aviation in dealing with outside companies to embrace the brand qualities with high levels of integrity
* Strong communication and influencing skills
* Ability to network at all levels both internally and externally
* Maintains high ethical working practices
* Generates enthusiasm for procurement and promotes the benefits it delivers to the business
* Professional in approach, behave and are perceived as a procurement specialist in the category area
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to challenge peers and senior executives
* Excellent analysis capability proven in a commercial environment. The ability to present information back to the relevant audience with recommendations and alternative solutions as appropriate
