We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced industrial relations professional in our Flight Operations Department, who will play a significant role in helping the Airline achieve this transformation. Reporting to the General Manager Aircrew, you will be accountable for managing employee relations between the company and the 3,850 pilots employed in a number of jurisdictions who work for Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon. This will include formulating policies on industrial and employee relations relating to flight crew, advising on and developing the Industrial Relations strategy and engaging with the flight crew trade unions that represent our Hong Kong and overseas based pilots on any issues.

You will also be responsible for managing a team of managers to support on flight crew initiatives.

Your key responsibilities and tasks include:

* Advise and lead on Industrial Relations/Employee Relations matters related to flight crew.

* Work with the Flight Operations leadership team and the People Department to develop Industrial Relations strategy and policy.

* Lead negotiations with flight crew Associations.

* Engage with flight crew representatives.

* Chair, as required, meetings with flight crew representatives.

* Support communication to and engagement with flight crew.

* Monitor the labour and regulatory environment of jurisdictions where flight crew are based, identify compliance challenges, and develop/effect changes to Company policy as needed.

* Analyse Flight Operations department’s business needs and initiate, develop, manage and deliver projects accordingly.

* Formulate policy on industrial and personnel issues as they relate to flight crew.

* Develop and interpret flight crew Conditions of Service (CoS) and other policies and initiatives as they relate to flight crew.

* Liaise with other departments regarding their policies and initiatives to ensure a consistent corporate approach, and ensure that Flight Operation’s policies and initiatives are compliant with Company policy.

* Liaise with flight crew representatives on issues related to CoS and other corporate policies.

* Provide advice and make recommendations on flight crew discipline and grievance issues.

* Liaise with legal advisers regarding court cases and other legal matters related to Industrial Relations/Employee Relations issues in Flight Operations Department.

* Stay abreast of industry best practices and pilot work rules and conditions of service.

* Participate in industry forums (e.g. Airline People Directors Conference) and associations.

* Development and supervision of staff within Employee Relations and Communications team in Flight Operations Department.

Requirements:

* Degree holder in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or related field.

* Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Human Resources and/or Employee/Industrial Relations.

* Experience in labour and employee relations and negotiations. Familiarity with the relevant legislation in one or more of the jurisdictions where we base our pilots would be advantageous (e.g. Hong Kong, Australia, United Kingdom, USA, Canada).

* Strong leadership, with demonstrated track record of successful delivery of multiple and concurrent projects / successfully concluding management-association negotiations.

* Able to constructively challenge ways of working and influence beyond own function with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Strong analytical, influencing and problem solving skills

* Aviation knowledge or experience is preferred
