Birmingham Airport is now recruiting for a Head of Aerodrome Operations.

JOB PURPOSE

To lead and manage the Airfield Departments to ensure the efficient operation of the Airside functions in a manner which gives priority to safety, compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements and ensures reliable customer service, within a sustainable environmental framework.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·To lead, motivate and develop the Airfield Management, Airfield Operations, Grounds Maintenance Teams and contracted third-party suppliers to deliver safe and reliable airfield infrastructure, air traffic control functions and the winter operations response in an efficient manner.

·To manage and co-ordinate the efficient operation of the Airfield Operations Department, including the setting and monitoring of service standards and safety performance indicators (SPI’s) in accordance with the Company’s mission statement and as directed by the Safety Review Board.

·To drive the Aerodrome Safety Management System (SMS) so that it meets and exceeds the requirements set by EASA and strives to continually improve, whilst  ensuring close harmonisation with the Birmingham Airport Air Traffic (BAATL) SMS including chairing the Safety Action Group and co-chairing the Flight Safety Committee.

·To ensure appropriate safety oversight and compliance monitoring programmes are in place to meet regulatory requirements; to work with the EASA designated post holders Aerodrome Safety Manager and Aerodrome Compliance Manager to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of systems, processes and procedures covering all third party activities on the Aerodrome including BAL’s own certificated activities.

Salary is dependent on experience. Working week is based upon a 37 hour week, but you may be expected to work the hours required to perform this role efficiently and effectively.
