Reporting to the Base Maintenance Manager the Hangar Assistant is responsible for a wide variety of aviation support duties at a busy aircraft maintenance hangar. Duties include upkeep of facility including cleanliness, delivery and collections of parts and materials, moving aircraft in and out of hangar, aircraft cleaning, and regular inspections of motor vehicles

The Role:

• General Maintenance and cleanliness of hangar facility.
• Inspection and completion of routine hangar and facility check lists.
• Driving duties involving collections and deliveries.
• Moving aircraft in and out of hangar as required.
• Inspection, preventive maintenance on vehicles, support equipment and special tools.
• Control and disposal of waste materials.
• Cleans aircraft, including exterior washing, waxing, & polishing when required.
• Support to aircraft maintenance activities as required.
• Assists office staff with moving equipment, capital inventory and surplus property removal.
• Other maintenance support duties as appropriate.

The Person:

• Would suit a person with a broad range of practical skills
• A full UK driving licence will be required and a fork lift licence would be advantageous but not essential. Please note driving restrictions will apply.
• The person will be required to communicate in English effectively.
• Some manual handling and strenuous activity will be required.
• The person needs to be self-motivated and will work often without direct supervision, the ability to prioritise activities will be essential.
• The person should have a keen eye for detail and work conscientiously and carefully, as befits a safety critical industry.
• Training will be provided on aircraft handling equipment, and facility inspection procedures.

/ Hours:  Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
/ Salary:   Up to £18,500 - dependent on experience
