Group Medical Officer

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager Safety Systems, the Group Medical Officer leads Virgin Australia Medical Services in line with the overall Safety Strategy to enhance the health, safety and wellbeing of Virgin Australia’s customers and employees. The role encompasses the leadership of the medical services team, and providing specialist medical advice to all areas of the business, on areas such as occupational health, passenger health, public health and particularly providing expert aviation medical advice regarding pilots and cabin crew to ensure their ongoing fitness for duty.

About you

To be considered for this role you must be an AHPRA registered specialist medical practitioner with Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational & Environmental Medicine (or similar) and post-graduate qualifications in aviation/aerospace medicine. You must also be a CASA Designated Aviation Medical Examiner and have experience in workplace DAMP programs including designation as a Medical Review Officer for alcohol and drug tests. You will need ability to communicate at all levels and build relationships with senior management, and to be a strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
