Exciting new permanent opportunity for a Grounds Operations Manager based at London Heathrow Airport.

Overview

Due to the opening and continued expansion of our client, a B747-400 Cargo Carrier, we are looking for experienced Grounds Operations Manager for based at London Heathrow Airport. Our client is looking for an individual who is proactive and adaptable to a changing environment, and can help positively support change.

The Ground Operations Manager - Ground Services shall, as part of the Ground Operations management team based at London Heathrow Airport, coordinate the day-to-day running of the Ground Operations Department, ensuring the department provides support and direction across all reportable locations worldwide, according to the standards and requirements of the company; shall ensure that Ground Operations policy and process is developed, communicated and maintained in line with applicable regulations; shall act as the Ground Operations link between all departments in order to fulfil corporate and customer expectations linked to aircraft Ground Services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and control of daily Ground Operations requirements
  • Implementation, control and oversight of Ground Service policy and processes, including, but not limited to:
  1. Flight Crew / Passenger Handling, Immigration and Customs
  2. Flight Documentation
  3. IATA Messaging
  4. Unit Load Device (ULD) Control
  5. Special Handling
  6. Reporting
  7. Ground Handling procedures
  8. Ramp Safety
  9. Aircraft Servicing, including catering, cleaning and water services
  10. De-icing
  • Undertake station visits and perform assessments and audits of service providers to ensure compliant operations
  • Providing technical expertise regarding aircraft and airline operating policies, processes and functions
  • Instigation and undertaking of investigations relating to aircraft damage reports, service failures, documentation errors, and crew reports
  • Evaluation and assessment of suppliers/service providers for charter and scheduled operations
  • Management-level liaison with third-party service providers and accountable/reportable internal departments including meetings and conference calls
  • Administration and development of departmental documentation including Manuals, Notices, Databases and Forms
  • ULD management and coordination processes - ULD control, restraint straps, charter equipment, special loads, movement requests
  • Updating and administration of the Centrik system with relevant Ground Operations information and documentation
  • Oversight and provision of Ground Operations training program, including but not limited to; Training Policy, Station Training (Operations and Ground Services) and Aircrew Operator Conversion training (initial and recurrent), to the requirements of the Loading and Fuelling Manual and Ground Services Manual
  • Coverage of company flight operations as Ground Operations representative, including scheduled services and charter operations
  • Provide appropriate guidance to other departments and colleagues
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of company operations, manufacturer and operator documentation, regulating authority requirements, relevant systems and procedures.
  • Shall be responsible for the proper and timely performance of duties assigned.

Key Requirements

  • Experience in airline operations and aircraft ground services provision
  • Experience of training and development in a managerial/supervisory role
  • Background of higher education
  • Knowledge of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • Experience of worldwide ground operations and remote location operations
  • Proactive team player
  • Must be computer literate and experienced in the use of MS Office products
  • Must be able, willing and available to travel to foreign locations, at short notice for extended periods of time, as is reasonably required by the company
  • Must hold a full UK Driving Licence
